First, the definition of manual modeling
Manual modeling is a modeling process that is completed entirely by hand or hand tools. Manual modeling operation is flexible, wide adaptability, simple process equipment, low cost, but its casting quality is poor, low productivity, high labor intensity, and high technical level, so manual modeling is mainly used for single piece small batch production, especially heavy and complex shapes of castings.
Second, manual modeling method:
1.according to the different characteristics of sand mold: two-box modeling, three-box modeling, off-box modeling, pit modeling, core modeling;
2, according to the different characteristics of the appearance: whole mold modeling, parting mold modeling, sand digging modeling, fake box modeling, live block modeling, scraper modeling.
1) Two-box modeling: two-box modeling is the most basic method of modeling, casting by a pair of upper and lower mold, simple operation. Suitable for various production batches and castings of various sizes.
2) Three-box modeling: the cast of three-box modeling is composed of upper, middle and lower three types. The medium height should be adapted to the spacing between the two parting surfaces of the casting. Three boxes modeling operation cost labor. It is mainly suitable for castings with two parting surfaces and small batch production.
3) Out-of-box modeling is mainly made of mobile sand box. After the mold is molded, the sand box is removed and re-used in modeling. Many moulds can be made from one sandbox. In order to prevent the wrong shape when the metal is poured, it is necessary to fill the mold around the mold with molding sand, and the box can also be placed on the mold. Commonly used in the production of small castings, because the sand box has no box belt, the sand box is generally less than 400mm.
4) Pit modeling: pit modeling is the use of workshop floor sand bed as the lower box of the mold. Large castings need to be laid under the sand bed with coke, buried in the exhaust pipe, in order to bleed air during pouring.
5) Core modeling: Core modeling is the use of a number of sand cores combined into a cast, without the need for sand boxes. It can improve the accuracy of the casting, but the cost is high. Suitable for mass production of complex shape castings.
6) Whole mold modeling: The appearance of the whole mold modeling is the whole, the parting surface is a plane, the casting cavity is all in half the casting, the modeling is simple, and the casting will not produce wrong mold defects. Suitable for castings with maximum section at one end and flat surface.
7) Sand digging modeling: The shape of sand digging modeling is overall, but the parting surface of the casting is curved. In order to facilitate mold drawing, the molding sand obstructing mold drawing is dug out by hand. The molding cost is low, the productivity is low, and the technical level of workers is high. For single-piece, small-batch production castings with parting surfaces that are not flat.
8) Sand digging modeling: The shape of sand digging modeling is overall, but the parting surface of the casting is curved. 9) Parting molding: Parting molding is to divide the shape into two halves along the maximum section, and the cavity is located in the upper and lower sand boxes, which is simple and labor-saving. It is often used in castings with a maximum cross-section in the middle.
10) Live block modeling: Live block modeling is to make the small convex, rib and other parts on the casting that hinder the mold into activity (that is, live block). When drawing the mold, first take out the main shape, and then take out the loose block from the side. Its modeling is time-consuming and the technical level of workers is high. Mainly used for single piece, small batch production with protruding parts, difficult to draw casting.
